Bliss' top tips to get the best results from your spray tan

Read on for our top tips to get the best results from your Bliss spray tan.

Before your spray tan

First, shave any unwanted hair from your body. It's best to do this about 24 hours prior to your spray tan, so that if you do experience any cuts or nicks they can heal. Follow up by exfoliating - removing dead skin cells helps your tan to last longer.  Avoid applying any lotions and ideally deodorant before your spray, as it can act as a barrier and leave your tan looking patchy. 

For best results, book your appointment for after you have finished showering and exercising for the day.

After your spray tan

Wear dark, loose fitting clothes after your spray tan to avoid streaking and staining your clothes. Avoid washing the guide colour off for 6-8 hours afterwards to allow the tan to fully develop. Leaving it overnight allows it to develop as much as possible, as your body temperature rises as you sleep. You should also avoid showering, swimming, and exercising whilst the tan is developing. When the time comes to shower, lukewarm water is the best option as it won't strip away as much of the initial colour. 

Oils and balms will erode your tan, and make it fade faster, so you should opt for oil-free body lotions which will help your tan to last longer. Be aware that exfoliation and shaving also lead to your tan fading faster.

Finally, when you do take showers, pat your skin dry rather than rubbing too much.
