Top 5 Destinations to Visit in Yorkshire

visit york

.

It looks like international travel may not be an option for some time, and whilst travel within the UK is still severely restricted, there's a good chance that the first places we will be able to holiday at will be those closest to home. Fortunately for us, there are some amazing holiday destinations right here in Yorkshire.

Often we're so concerned with going abroad in search of sunnier weather that we don't both to visit incredible destinations that are just down the road. 2020 has handed us an opportunity to do just that.

So here are our top 5 Yorkshire holiday destinations to visit in 2020...

1. York

Take a holiday to the charming city of York. Indulge in history and culture at the York Dungeons, the Jorvik Centre, the Railway Museum, and the York Castle Museum. Go shopping along the shambles, and walk the city walls. Dine out at delightfully British pubs, and exquisite restaurants.

2. Harrogate

Harrogate has everything you need for a couple of nights away. Relax at the Turkish Baths, wander through stunning gardens, and soak up some culture and museums and galleries. Treat yourself to some retail therapy, dine out at mouthwatering restaurants, and enjoy a beverage at some wonderful cocktail bars.

3. Ilkley

Nothing says great British countryside like the Yorkshire dales. Ilkley is the perfect spot to clear your head with some fresh air and hiking. Enjoy breathtaking scenery, classic pub lunches, and a nice cuppa at Betty's Tea Shop.

4. Whitby

Who said you can't have a beach holiday in the UK? Yes, British seaside towns come with a certain level of kitsch, but isn't that why we love them? Keep your fingers crossed for some beach-appropriate weather, but if the heavens open you can also enjoy museums, galleries, historic buildings, and shopping.

5. Scarborough

Another classic seaside town! Aside from the scenic coastline, Scarborough boasts a fantastic Sealife sanctuary, a thrilling water park, and a wealth of outdoor attractions to enjoy.

We're keeping our fingers crossed for a July reopening date, to be confirmed when we obtain further updates from the prime minister. We know that many of our valued clients can't wait to have us tend to their nails, tans, eyebrows, waxing needs, and more. Not to mention, we could all use a little pampering and relaxation after a stressful few months!

We are currently gathering the details of those clients who would like priority for appointments when we reopen, to ensure that they get in first. If you would like to be added to our priority waiting list, please contact MD Beverley Silver on 07950200580 or email info@blissbeautyspa.com.

PPE will be worn by staff, and also be available for clients, and we have deep-cleaned both salons. Extra cleaning practices and more will also be in place when we reopen.

We have also used this time for renovations at both salons. Furthermore, we have a brand new website and new menu coming soon!

Bliss Salon News & Covid-19 Guidance!

Bliss Salon News & Covid-19 Guidance!

Message from MD Beverley Silver!

It was with a heavy heart in March that we sensibly decided to close Bliss ahead of the Government date to aim to protect myself, my team, my family, and importantly clients.Time has passed and behind the scenes we have been working on a new website and tweaked menu. Donating to charities has always been part of salon life for Bliss and during lockdown, despite being redundant with salon services, we were able to offer hundreds of sanitisers free to NHS clients and charities.

We are awaiting a formal date to open and have consulted directly with Ministers, although we are now aiming for 4th July 2020. This date is solely reliant on government instruction and a main factor is the ‘R’ number. More information and guidance will be featured by myself online supporting all government guidance. A check list for clients to follow will be published once the date is set but rest assured your safety and for all at Bliss remains my personal priority. I refuse to compromise on this and as we relaunch please DO expect FREE PPE, at this point Water Option being available in disposable cups with fully sanitised surroundings along with other essential items.

Bliss has been part of our lives for many years and I’m asking for every inch of support from clients old and new for us to continue to battle ahead as we do best. To help all appointments flow we will aim to offer slightly longer appointments and open extended hours on selective days, and are considering Sunday trade too.

Extending to clients old and new, thank you for reading. Please do Spread the news ...If you would also like to be added to our Priority Appointment list - Send a direct request now to 07950200580 , Comments and suggestions will be greatly received ❤️Txt or email info@blissbeautyspa.com

Lockdown yoga for a summer-ready body and mind

08 May 2020

Lockdown yoga for a summer-ready body and mind

.

With extra time on our hands, summer fast approaching, and extra stress clouding our brains, it's the perfect opportunity to do some yoga. De-stress and tone your body whilst you have the time. Yoga is the ideal way to calm the mind whilst sculpting a strong and sexy beach body. The following poses will tone the legs, butt, abs and upper body. Perform each pose on the left side then the right, at least three times per week for a summer-ready body and mind.

.

1. Quarter Dog - shoulders, upper back and abs
.
yogA
.
Begin in downward facing dog. Lower your forearms to the mat and try to straighten your legs and lower your heels to the floor. Relax your head and direct your gaze towards your belly button. Hold for five breaths.
.
2. Balancing Star - arms, shoulders, abs and thighs
Plant the sole of your right food firmly on the mat so your toes are pointing left. Place your right hand flat at the front end of your mat facing forwards. Raise your body up off the mat with your left leg and hand raised into the air. Direct your gaze towards your left hand. Hold for five breaths.
.
 3. Knee up plank - abs, upper body and legs
Place both hands on the mat facing forwards and come into a plant position. Straighten your arms and bring your right knee up to your chest. Hold for five breaths.
.
4. Burning low lunge - thighs and bum
.
.
Keep your left leg in place and bring your right foot forward to between your hands, coming into a low lunge. Lower your torso and reach your right arm underneath your bent right knee. Interlace both hands in front of your right ankle. Keep all the weight in your legs, resisting the urge to lean into your hands. Hold for five breaths.
.
5. Warrior 3 - abs, back and thighs
Stand upright on your mat. Lift your left leg behind you as you lower your chest so that your left leg and torso are parallel to the floor. Reach your arms out in front of you. Hold for five breaths.
.
6. Intense East - upper body, bum and thighs
.
.
Sit on the mat between your hands and extend your legs in front of you. Place hands 6-8 inches behind you so that your finger tips are facing towards you. Press into your hands and feet as you lift your hips as high as you can, so your spine is in a long line. Lower your head behind you. Hold for five breaths.

20 Ways to keep yourself entertained during lockdown

.

Some of us are getting fed up with spending all of our time at home - it's understandable. However, if we use this time wisely we could really enjoy it, and come out of lockdown as more well-rounded individuals.

Here are 20 of our best suggestions for how to spend your time during lockdown.

1. Write something - a blog, a journal, a short story, or even a novel!

2. Bake something. It's very relaxing and you get a yummy treat at the end. Set aside a whole day and make a cake that's truly magnificent.

3. Work out - you'll find plenty of workout apps with exercises that you can do at home with little to no equipment, and you can come out of lockdown in much better shape.

4. Download a meditation app and find your inner peace.

5. Take up yoga.

6. Research new recipes and cook up a storm.

7. Spring clean your home. It's not fun but the results are worth it, and you'll regret it if you go back to work without having done it.

8. Learn a new language with help from apps like Duolingo.

9. Write a song or learn to play a new instrument.

10. Do some crafts and create beautiful pieces for your home.

11. Do some painting or try the paint pouring craze.

12. Learn to sew and make some gorgeous new cushion covers or bunting.

13. Read travel blogs and plan your next great adventure.

14. Have a virtual house party to keep in touch with friends and family.

15. Send a handwritten letter to someone who lives far away, or someone who lives alone.

16. Trace your family tree.

17. Do an online course and gain a qualification.

18. Upcycle old clothes, accessories, and even household items.

19. Read a book.

20. Do a jigsaw.

Lookout for more ways to keep yourself and your family entertained, as well as health and beauty tips coming to the blog soon!
